experimenting concept for smoking elephant designs (004)

I started to attempt to draw my version of what the elephant looks like. i dun play around with differnt disigns.











i then realise due to me have very little skill within drafts draftmens ship i had 2 find help for some who was a conpedent draftmens.
I got a  of mine called colleague called  Niko to  help with with some disgines and tried to experiment












 

i studied in to the ser

i then to started to research in to the French children book entitles Baber the elephant.

the resin why i have chosen this is because the elephants acting in a very anthorpamoric  

Within the late 2010 a remake of the series where made entitled Babar and the Adventures of Badou

the series was directed by Mike Fallows from the studio

I found this very helping in helping me inform the style that i may want to push forward




I then got Gary Ralf to help me with the designs for the elephant  on account the Niko was taking too long to get them dun.

I told gary to try and make the elephant look like a toy teddy elephant but at the same time look and bit rough at the same

i found this to be too cute and itlook like somthing out of winnie the pooh and it need to look a little more rought


second disign

I like how gary has made the elephant a bit more ragged and warn down. but i didn't like the ears they still look too much out too soft and out of place with the disign. they needed to be more split and tarn, i felt that the eyes

 I like how Gary has split the ear on the elephant i feel that there could work better with a few more roughness.

Final out come 

I am very please with the out come of the designs 

 i then left gary to do the facial expression the only thing i said was to try and make the eye as crazy and bulbous  and exaggerated as he  could

I was very please with the out come the only think i would complain about is that Garry didn't exaggerate the eyes a little bit more but that more to do when its time to animating the elephant.

I was very fortunate that my elephant trying to give up smoking idea to be green lit to be make in to a film.

We where ask by Mike to get in to groups and sate what skills that we need from our films.
e.g animator postproduction texture artist lighter rigger

my skill

I feel that my skill are within post production and in animation and sculpting due to there being stop motion in the short film.


the thing that i think i would need for the film are as followed

(A 3d modeller)

(A concept artist)  The reason for this is i feel that my draft men skills are very limit winch may effct the overall project dearly


Arren offend to help with the modelling of the set and if need some spacial effects

Niko offered to help with any concept art work and any  CG 3d modelling if needed

Research and Experimenting With Story ideas (002)

Creating an idea

The first idea was set at an 8 year old girl birthday party everything is going well. Until suddenly A football smashes throw the window and squashes the cake. The girl is covered allover with cake and burst in to tears. The father of the birthday girl rushes outside in an attempt of finding the culprit but to no avail. Later that day the birthday girl is outside in the garden on the swing looking very depressed. she then hears a noise coming from the other side of the garden. Being intrigued by this she follows the noise to next doors garden to then realise the noise was sobbing. The girl walks in to next doors garden to the run down old shed. The girl pears throw the window to then reveal a little boy not much old then her selfs. the boy is staring at old birthday picture. The reason for this is that the boy has never have a real and proper birthday cause his parents cant be bothered with him. The girl walks away and then come with a small birthday cake and sings happy birthday to him/

i gave up the idea cause it sounded too long for a short 3 minute cartoon and i would hace had trouble trying to get across how how shown that the little boy has never had a birthday


I did some basic storyboards on it


 This ideas was thrown out on the first go it was about a traffic light where each light had its own personality and they are always fight till out day there fight lead them to curses cars to smash in to each other

The next ideas was a stress  relief advert where u had lost of angry people  are being connected up to an old fashion the old stress toys that business men had.

This ideas was something quite simple its about a man who at a shopping till in a big supermarket and is the middle of rush hours and the man is fanatically trying to get all the stuff through as fast as possible.

This ideas was never fully developed

This idea was about cloud fishing where people go up and fish for pigeon and clouds.

I didn't get much further with this idea,

This idea is about an elephant trying to give up smoking the titles is very self explanatory.

He's goes to the mafia monkey in the jungle to get his fix of cigarettes.

This is the same idea with the smoking elephant. the elephant is in rehabilitation to give up his smoking happen with nicotine patches all over his trunk.  there is a  Doctor monkey give him assistance by putting a just lit cigarettes giving him a psychological to see how the elephant reacts. Then suddenly the elephant become all shaky and sweating like mad and then sneezes all the nicotine patch of his trunk.
     

The next idea I had was about a farm on his tractor where you have a small army of mad cows chasing after him cause they want to ride the tractor.

The ideas wasn't fully developed because I would have been to over the top for what could be dun for this project  

The next idea idea was to do a MURDER MYSTERY set in to old Victorian England. the story begin with news paper articles lord and duke being murdered. The only thing similar about the murder is that they all have decapitated heads. A detective has been called to solve the murders. Throw his investigation he continually hits dead ends. As a result of this he has become a laughing stock and become in to a state of megalomania. He is determined that he is the only one to solve the crime. e work day and night for many years. Then one day he is playing around with a with one of the top hat of one of the murder victims and then puts it on.  then suddenly his head get bitten off by the tops with the detective screaming but its too late.

I wanted to try an be in keeping with the who dun it motive that is quite in common with the murder mystery theme and try and throw people of a bit off. however i found this a bit complication for a three minute short

I then decided after my tutors mike and dan said to keep our story idea to at lest two minuets or under.

    
I then when to my old sketch book searching for ideas that i could use.
when i was in zero foundation I had mad 10 sketchbook full of drawing and ideas.


I found an idea that I like its was parody on the supersize meal deals in America.

Its start off with a ice cream man coming in to a small neighbourhood.  The child see the ice cream van and runs out side and orders a monster ice cream winch is a 5 foot long ice cream



i felt that the idea would be a little too much of seeing a child licking an ice cream for best part of minute.





After experimenting with different ideas i have decided to pitch the idea of the smoking elephant and further develop it.
